Black Parents of Evanston is a program dedicated to fostering a sense of community that is inclusive of black caretakers and caretakers of black children in Evanston. We organize events for children of all ages. We also occasionally protest or organize for change around Evanston if it’s in the best interest of the children of Evanston. We are always open to new ideas and try to make everything virtual friendly.
Black Parents of Evanston is a program provided by Black Residents of Evanston, a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to the broader goal of fostering a sense of community that is inclusive of black people.

What We Do
All
For all age groups, we host a yearly holiday party.
Early Childhood (Ages 0-4)
For parents with littles between the ages of 0 and 4, we host weekly playdates, meal trains for postpartum parents, and the occasional special event (e.g. Caretaker and Me Yoga). Ask us about babysitter swapping (finding a caretaker to babysit your child in exchange for the same) and nanny sharing!
Elementary and Middle School (Ages 5-12)
For children between the ages of 5 and 12, we organize Swahili language classes, self-defense workshops, and assist caretakers in finding summer programs that fit caretaker budgets. We also help to coordinate carpools for school events.
High School (Ages 13-18)
We have plans to (a) partner with the Build Institute to help high school students launch a business, (b) coordinate carpools, (c) assist students with college planning and applications, and (d) fundraise so that the Black Students Association at Evanston High School can throw an annual Ebony Soireé.
Parents
Annual Luncheon on Mother’s and Father’s Day.
